Library of Congress Announces Winners of 2022 Literacy Awards on International Literacy Day

Street Child is honoured to have been selected by the Library of Congress as the recipient of the 2022 David M. Rubenstein Prize – announced on International Literacy Day, 8 September 2022. The David M Rubenstein Prize recognises Street Child’s outstanding and measurable contribution to increasing literacy levels in multiple parts of the world. 

 

The wider Literacy Awards Program identifies organisations around the world that provide exemplary, innovative and replicable strategies to promote literacy and reading. 

 

There are three prize categories, and we are thrilled to be in such outstanding company: 

 

  1. David M Rubenstein Prize (USD $150,000) – Street Child 

  2. American Prize (USD $50,000) – Make Way for Books 

  3. International Prize (USD $50,000) – Young African Refugees for International Development (YARID) – Uganda 

 

There were an additional 12 organisations who have also been recognised for their highly successful literacy initiatives
